This yarn been collaboratively designed and created by Australia’s original polwarth (sheep) breeders, the Dennis family, and ourselves. From conception to packaging, this has been a combined effort. Processor and grower, working together to craft a new, unique Australian yarn. The pioneering spirit, mixing with the future of Australian processing, The Henry, truly is an Australian artisan yarn that is soft, warm and full of heart, much like the ship it is named after. All fibre used in this product has travelled less then 225kms from farm to yarn.
All of our products are created in an environmentally friendly way. The sheep’s wool (polwarth) has had to be commercially scoured due to its lanolin, but not carbonised. This means that no further harsh chemicals have been used to break down any vegetable matter such as grass seeds, etc. The alpaca fibre has been washed by us, using rain water with a low phosphate detergent.
This means that this product still may contain some vegetable matter and slight inconsistencies. They can also pill which is not a defect, but a natural occurrence of these fibres. Our yarns are semi-worsted.
We believe in a low carbon footprint and try to source our fibre as local as we can. Please check out our page called ‘our fibre’ for more information.
The colours of our products are all natural which therefore can result in some colour variations within the product. Therefore, the merino we use is always a natural white with alpaca fibre being used to create different coloured yarns.
We also recommend that you purchase sufficient product for your project as there may be colour variations between batches. This is highly likely in particular for our ivory, toffee and grey product ranges.
All of our products are made with love, please handle with care.
