Alpaca is hypo-allergenic, lightweight and possibly one of the most sustainable fibres known to man. Couple with the gorgeous natural colours, it is surprising that it is still a rare fibre. That is why we take such care in processing, in creating these products and we are sure that you too will enjoy our 100% natural alpaca scarf.
The process:
All of our alpaca fibre comes from nearby farms where animal welfare is paramount. The farmers nourish and nurture the animals so in order for them to grow beautiful soft, light fibre. It takes 12 months for the animal to grow the fibre before shearing. The fibre is then bagged and ready to leave the farm. These farms are all less than 100km from our mill, so a short journey down the road for processing.
When we receive the fibre we wash it in rainwater, allow it to air dry, before it begins its journey through the mill’s equipment. We process all of our alpaca fibre in small batches to ensure only the best and therefore use only the softest fibre in our beautiful yarns. Once spun, Isabel then uses the yarn for knitting and finishing.

We have processed every aspect of this garment on site in the most environmentally friendly and sustainable way. 95% of our mill’s power is generated by our solar system, the waste water goes into our organic orchard and any waste is composted. All of this in Australia’s greenest mill and the only mill to be certified by Ethical Clothing Australia (ECA)
