Polwarth alpaca 14 ply yarn:
This yarn is an unusual blend of alpaca and Australian polwarth sheep. This is a collaborative yarn: designed and created by Tarndie and us. And, like its namesake, the yarn is the start of a new pioneering adventure: creating uniquely Australian yarns. Henry was the name of the brig which brought 600+ Saxon Merino from Tasmania to the Dennis’ family at Warncoort, Victoria in 1840. The descendants of the family and those sheep still reside there today.
We select both fibres carefully to provide this yarn with a super-soft luxurious feel.
The polwarth is from Tarndie . The entire journey of this yarn is only 225 kms from farm to yarn, including the scourer in Geelong.
We carefully select all of our alpaca from specific breeders and all fibre is from within Victoria.
The wool has been scoured to remove the lanolin, but it is not carbonised. It means that it is better for for you and the environment. We wash all of the alpaca fibre with rain water and a low phosphate detergent, therefore you may still find some grass seeds in the yarn.
We have designed this yarn by bringing both fibres together during the process reflecting the ruggedness if this area in the various colours of this gorgeously polwarth alpaca DK / 8ply yarn.
All of our yarns are semi-worsted.
Our solar system supplies most of the electricity for our processing.
We want to take care of our property, our land and our animals. And we strongly believe in sustainability.
We recommend that you purchase sufficient product for your project. There can be variations between batches.
All of our products are made with love. Please handle with care!
