GOR Woollen Mill isn't your typical yarn store. It's a story of passion, dedication, and a whole lot of learning on the fly. Nick and Isabel, the husband-and-wife team behind GOR, embarked on this unexpected adventure in 2015, with no prior experience in fiber, textiles, or farming.

Intrigued by the world of wool, they dove headfirst, and within a year, their own yarn brand based on luxurious merino and alpaca blends was born! This wasn't just about creating a product; it was about building a sustainable and ethical business from the ground up.

From Alpacas to Yarn

Our journey began in 2011 with just two alpacas, sparking our passion for crafting exceptional fiber and yarn. By 2020, our farm had blossomed into a thriving sanctuary for over 25 of these gentle creatures.

Our dream of a fully operational woollen mill was realized in 2015, where we started transforming our alpacas' luxurious fleece into sustainable, handcrafted yarns.

A Self-Taught Odyssey:

Nick and Isabel's journey is a testament to the power of self-education. 

They devoured everything they could about fibers, deciphering wool statistics, mastering the art of processing and spinning, and tackling the complexities ofrunning an online and physical store. But their ambition didn't stop there.
